It is Never Too Late to Start Doing Sports

I am 49 years old. I have never usually had too many complaints about my health, and my weight was stable. However, sometimes when I wake up in the morning I have back pains, sometimes my blood pressure would raise up. A friend of mine who is a doctor suggested me to start doing sports. I never did sports; is it worth taking sports now? If so, what are the things I should be aware of while practicing not to hurt myself?

40 years old and older people, who do sports and love an active life, tend to age more slowly. Physical activity improves movement coordination and thus lessens the risk of fall downs and bone breaks which is so frequent to the elderly. In the 40s muscles tend to become naturally flabby but exercises slow down this process.

Physically active people are wiry, do not get easily tired. Those who practice sports look much younger than those who don’t. While doing sports blood pressure and its blood flow speed in the cardiovascular system. Therefore all the body parts and organs, including the heart, are supplied with blood more effectively.

A 40-year-old person who starts practicing should increase intensity little by little. An effective training includes intensity/weights bigger than the body is usually used to. It is best to work out every second day, so that the body could regain strength, 20-30 minutes, increasing intensity and loads gradually.

It is very important to check a heart rate during the practice. It is the average resting heartbeat per minute of the heart. How to calculate it? 220 minus your age equals the maximum heart beat you can reach. The most usual method to calculate the heart rate is the Karvonen method which uses resting heart rate to calculate the target heart rate.

(HRmax – HRrest) x % intensity + HRrest = TARGET HEART RATE

When resting, the heart beats at about 70 beats per minute (bpm) in males and 75 bpm in females. The intensity is usually between 50%-85%. So, the target heart rate for a woman like me should be as follows:

220- 49= 171 (HRmax)
50% intensity: (171-75) x 0.5+70= 118 bpm
85% intensity (171-75) x 0.85 + 70 = 151 bpm
So, the heart rate can vary from 120-150 bpm.

It is always very good to have a heart rate monitor which is used like a watch to monitor the pulse and heart rate.

Women, do not love men too much!

Our lives are full of various meetings and acquaintances. Some of them make us stop and think; some of them make us smile.

One day I drove to the gas station to fuel the car. And then this man came up to me and talked to me. I didn't recognize him first. He was my college friend, who I hadn't seen for 10 years. To my big surprise, he had changed a lot- gained a lot of weight. When I told him so, he smiled and asked me if I knew the saying:" Love comes through cooking"? I smiled back at him saying that his wife really loves him. And we parted.

I then thought that in every joke there is some truth hidden, sometimes even lots of it! The truth about my friend was his overweight.

Why does this happen? Being overweight will hurt you if you let it and don’t do something about it. It is not good to be over weight, obesity can cause your body harm.

You have to eat right in order to stay healthy. If you do not eat right, your body does not receive the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. You have to eat so it fuels your body. Similar to a motor vehicle, which you add gas to travel; the body requires food that promotes energy, making it go. Too much food is not good for you and not enough of the right food can be harmful to your health.

Choosing good foods to eat:
Not all foods are good for you, yet liver is loaded with iron which is good for your blood, but to much isn’t good for you either. Fruits and vegetables are good for you but again not too much because the fruit will turn into sugar and that’s not good for you. Too much may give you the gibes, especially if you have to watch your weight. You can get high cholesterol as well from food if you’re not careful. High cholesterol can lead to harden arteries, which follows by strokes or heart attacks. So you need to eat but watch what you are eating and how much of it in a days time.

How will I know if am not eating right?
When you go to your doctor, he will tell you if you need to go on a diet. Your doctor will be able to tell by your weight. Then he may put you on a diet to lose weight. He will tell you what to eat and how much as well as what not to eat. Then he may tell you to excise everyday. You have to be able to burn up what you take in so it will not turn into sugar or fat.

Remember that you should try to feast from the four food groups. Try to make sure that you only eat the amount you suppose to. Get a good guide and get your exercise that you need to make you healthy.

The world is filled with support groups that will help you if need support. These groups are great. The groups will give you support during the time that you need help. At group meetings, you will meet people with the same problems you have and you can give each other the support. Just remember to set a goal but don’t make it so high that you can’t do it and give up. Start out a little at a time and then as you get better you can get a increase your plans. In addition, what ever you do try to stick to it, it takes will power and control.

Willpower the master:
Willpower is a powerful mechanism inside you. If you want to find this willpower take a seat, sit down and talk with you to see what you can find. As you learn more about you, you gain willpower that takes you beyond your abilities, which means you will have a healthy aging in the future.

So live and learn, love each other, take care your family, but be healthy and happy.

"Magical Shoes" or How I Lost Some Weight

I would like to share with you how one story helped me to lose extra weight.

Years ago when I was a little girl, my mom would read me stories late evenings while I was in bed. I used to like particularly one fable and therefore I would ask my mom to read it over and over again.

The story was about a poor girl who once met an old woman that started taking care of the little girl.
Since every Sunday they had to go to church, the old lady and the girl went to a shoe maker to get the shoes done for a girl. The shoe maker, however, made cherry color shoes... such an intense color... which wasn‘t appropriate to wear going to church.
Moreover, every time the girl would put the shoes on, she would start dancing at once. Since the old lady was almost blind, she first didn‘t see which shoes the girl had chosen, but later having been warned about that by the other people, she decided to take the shoes away from the little girl.
However, the girl found those beautiful shoes and put them again...and again started dancing. But when she wanted to stop, she just couldn‘t do it. She couldn‘t stop and take the shoes off.

And so she kept dancing further on. All the people would enjoy her dancing and her self, as she grew up being energetic, beautiful and in a super shape.

This is the story... Years kept going, I grew up, gave birth to two beautiful girls that made my life happy.
To be honest, at some stages my life wasn‘t very happy...and didn‘t enjoy seeing myself the way I had become: I gained extra weight, I lost confidence and started being dissatisfied with myself and the entire world. I know that wasn‘t very nice, but I couldn‘t help behaving and feeling like this.
Of course I forgot such things as childhood stories.
But once I happened to find my most favorite book with the story about the poor girl. I read it again... And thought: „ Oh, I wish I had such shoes! I would dance all the time, be energetic, slim and beautiful! “.

But then I was hit by an idea: „BUT I CAN BE ALL THAT IF I WANT! “

And so I started my energetic life, my ,,dancing”. I started: working out, doing group exercises, jogging, playing active sports, as well as maintaining a good diet. Physical activity and sports brought me back to an active life and helped me to lose weight, stay healthy and look beautiful.
And I know- I must keep being active, I can‘t stop, otherwise I will become what I used to be before. I don‘t want this. My children say: „ Our mom is the best and most beautiful mom in the world! “ And I really want to be like this.

So this is my story. I hope you enjoyed it. If it inspires you, I will be more than happy.
